The School of Research Science is proud to announce that INNOVATION month will take place during February. Throughout the month year groups will take part in various STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths) activities in school to develop their inquiry skills.
The theme chosen this year are topics that support our learning in class 'Superheroes' and will help us focus on the Moral Value of the month ‘Helpfulness.’
FS2 Project
How can I make my superhero fly? Design and build a model to help your superhero to fly.
Much like our last project, we would encourage children to plan their project, have as much independence as possible creating the project and be confident speaking about their project.
Projects will be displayed around the school and certificates for outstanding work will follow!
Projects must be handed in by 19th March 2020.
Task 1:
Draw your superhero project on the document provided (above). Encourage your child to carefully draw a picture of a superhero using the 'tool for flying' e.g. a superhero wearing a jet pack or a superhero wearing special boots. Write about what your superheroes power is and how the tool will help them fly.

File Size: | 1849 kb |
File Type: | docx |
Task 2:
Create your Superhero flying tool! For this you may want to use a variety of materials - paper, tissue, cardboard, boxes, balloons, string, bottles, paint, felt, glitter, foam. We kindly ask that you let your child paint, draw and stick as much as possible. This is your child's work, it does not need to be perfect... It will be a project that they are PROUD of because they have completed it independently.
Task 3:
Talk about it! 'How will this help your superhero fly?' Please ensure your child is able to talk about what they have made. They can then bring the design plan and the project into school. Using the design plan and project, they can explain the project to the class, they can talk about the materials they have used and why they have chosen specific objects.
Example Projects
Here are some wonderful examples of the projects from previous years! We hope that many of you will complete the project, as for our previous topic 'Dinosaurs' we saw so many amazing Dinosaur Lands.
